I think when he says "DO you belive in me" he means do they think im going to do good in school? I think the speech was powerful because he a little kid talking to like a 12,00 people. He also talking about how he needs the teachers to care about them.He also wants them to be nice and care of them. He also dosen't want them to give up on you. His speech is also powerful becuase he says without fear. He is also asking the teachers to help the kids when they need help
ReplyDeleteWhen Dalton asks do you believe in me he means do you think that I could do speak in front of all of these teachers and staff. He also means do u think I could get good grades and pay for college. He also means do you think he could get a job and pay for his family when he’s older. Also he can graduate from high school and college. Also I think Dalton’s speech was very powerful because he could speak in front of all those teachers and staff. Also he’s only in 5th grade!
ReplyDeleteI think when Dalton says “do you believe in me”, he is asking everyone if they believe that he can do many things even though he is just a 5th grader. Also if he is able to do well in school, and be a good influence. One of the reasons why Dalton’s speech was so powerful is because he is only in 5th grade and talking to over 20,000 people. Most kids his age, or older would chicken out and not speak, but Dalton did other wise. One of the things that really surprised me about his speech is that he could raise his voice so loud. He was talking on the top of his lungs but still getting across to the point without looking like he was trying to hard. This is what I thought of Dalton’s speech.
ReplyDeleteI think that when Dalton asks, "Do you believe in me?" he means, do you think I will do well in school, and in life. I think he means, do you believe that i can do just as well as anyone else. Also when Dalton says "Do you believe in me?" I think he is asking,do you believe that I can reach my highest potential. I think that Dalton's speech is powerful because he is only in fifth grade, and he is speaking in front of thousands, and thousands of people. Also, I think it is powerful because, you can tell that he means all of what he says. I think that Dalton is very brave, and his speech is very powerful.
ReplyDeleteWhen Dalton asks "Do you believe in me?" He wants the teachers to believe that he can do good in school. He also means that to all his classmates. What made Dalton's speech so powerful is how he was standing up there, Speaking to 20,000 people, Which most people couldn't do. Also he didn't hesitate to speak what he thinks. Dalton is brave for going up there and speaking, Especially in front of all those people.
ReplyDeleteI think what Dalton means by "Do you believe in me" is that he wants his teachers and the other educators to not give up on him and his classmates. He want them to lead the kids to a successful future, not give up so can't fail. Without the teachers and educators Dalton and his classmates would be nowhere. He means "Do you believe I can be successful as everyone if you don't give up on me". Daltons speech was very powerful because he is only a 5th grader and he can stand up in front of 20,000 people and give a speech. He also had to memorize the whole thing. What he did I don't think any of those educators could have done. Dalton is very brave and the speech was very powerful as well
ReplyDeleteDalton is speech is very powerful in many ways. When Dalton asks “do u believe in me “ I think he means many things. I think that one thing he means is, do u believe that I will get into a good college along with all of the other children in his grade. I think he also means do u believe that I can speak in front of all of these teachers and educators. Which is over 20,000 people! Another thing that Dalton could mean is do you believe that I can go through school working at my highest standards. For example trying his hardest in school along with all of the other kids in his grade. Dalton is very brave to be able to write that speech and speak it to many educators, when he is only in fifth grade!
I think that when Dalton says "Do you believe in me?" he means do you belive that I can do well enough in school that I can get into a college or get a good job. I also think he means do you believe that I am brave enough to stand up in front of over 20,000 teachers and staff members and speak. I think Dalton's speech was very powerful because he said everything he did with no fear and he sounded very proud of what he had to say. All in all, I think Dalton is a very brave and strong fifth grader.
ReplyDeleteWhen Dalton says "Do you believe in me"? I think he's asking the people if they believe that he can speak in front of 20,000 people.I also think he's asking the people if they believe that him and all his classmates can make it all the way to college and get a degree. What I think makes Daltons speech so powerful is that he is only in fifth grade and he is speaking in front of 20,000 people!I know I would never be able to do that. What also makes Daltons speech so powerful is that he is proving to all those people that him and his classmates can make it to college.Dalton is very courageous to be able to memorize his speech and say it in front of thousands of people.I hope all those educators believed him, because I know I do!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Dalton's speech is powerful 1. because he's in the fifth grade. Plus to stand up and speak in front of that many people takes a ton of guts! I bet all the people there admire him for how much bravery he has. When Delton asks "do you believe in my?" i think it could mean maybe like ya know I'm up here doing what I love and I'm only twelve years old. Or it could also mean like if you guys don't believe in me then that's fine because i believe in myself and that's all that matters.
ReplyDelete“Plus to stand up and speak in front of that many people takes a ton of guts!” I agree that he had to have a lot of courage to get up there. I think if that were me I would freeze and runoff stage. I think Dalton had to really believe in himself for him to get up on that stage. Good post.
DeleteWhen Dalton says "Do you believe in me?" I think he is asking the educators if they think he and his classmates can become successful later in life. I also think he is also asking if the teachers are willing to help them build a foundation for the future. Like Dalton says "We need you now more than ever!" I think Dalton's speech was powerful because he spoke to well over 20,000 highly educated people. He was fearless and has faith in himself, as well as his classmates.
ReplyDelete@MichaelaJ Well-stated! Teachers should be willing to build that foundation with their students!
DeleteWhen Dalton asks “do you believe in me”, I think he means “do you believe that my classmates and I can be successful?” I think it also means that “do you believe that my classmates and I can work our way to college?”I thought that Dalton’s speech was very powerful because he was talking over 20,000 teachers and educators. I don’t think any of those teachers or educators would be able to do something like that.
ReplyDeleteDalton asks “Do you believe in me?” I think he means “Do you believe I can be successful in life?” I think he also means “Do you think my classmates can be successful in life?” What’s the point in learning if the person teaching you doesn’t think you will be successful? Dalton’s speech was powerful because he is so small, yet is sending out such a BIG message! He is going out on stage and talking to thousands of educators. He is brave to go up there and is able to make sure he is heard, even though he is so young.

ReplyDeleteI ask my dad about some history that happened in his life and he said, in febuary, 1978 he lived in NY city. "I was 9 years old when the blizzard of 1978 hit " . "The snow drifts were so high that many people had climb out of the second story windows to get out of the buildings". He remembers that he and a his brothers went around digging out cars for pocket money. And when the snow melted, many of the streets were flooded. Infact, he remembers seing a Volks Wagon Bug stranded, and floating in a huge puddle, in Centrl Park.
ReplyDeleteOtto yours was good. I wrote aboutr the same thing."The snow drifts were so high that many people had climb out of the second story windows to get out of the buildings."
DeleteOtto my dad tells me about that storm to and he also expeirenced it to did your dad say how many cars he dug up and the total amount of money he made and did he have to split it with his brother
Delete"The snow drifts were so high that many people had climb out of the second story windows to get out of the buildings"Otto that sounds realy scary how you cant get out from the frount door the snow was so high. That story of your dad seeing a car floating in a puddle.
DeleteI asked my mother about the 9/11 terrorist attacks and she said that she was sitting home watching t.v when all of a sudden an emergency broadcast popped up.The broadcast said that the W.T.C's were being attacked by terrorists! My mother could'nt beleive what she was seeing, she thought she was dreaming. Then she started to feel scared and began to panick. She then quickly got in her car to go pick up my sister and I at school. When she got home she continued to watch the news. She became very saddened by the thought of how many lives had been lost. That day changed the world's view on terrorism and brutality forever!
