  1. For my fable I chose the lion and the mouse. It is all about a mouse who gets caught by a lion because he was crawling on his back and woke the lion up. Though the lion wants to eat him, the mouse made him laugh by saying that he could help him one day if he let him go. This caused the lion to laugh and get out of a bad mood. So the lion let him go and proceeded with his day. Though later in the story the lion gets trapped in a snare, and the mouse sees him. So the mouse runs over to the lion and sets him free, by chewing the ropes. The moral of this story is, just because your small or weak doesn’t mean you can’t make a difference in someone else’s life. I remember when I first heard it, I was still in preschool. I was sitting on a couch with my mom and sister and my mom started telling us the story. I don’t think it is that popular today but I really enjoy it, and love the moral.

  2. One of my favorite stories or fables is The Three Little Pigs. It is defiantly still around and popular today. The story starts off with three bothers who are pigs. They want to each build their own house. The first pig builds his house out of sticks and the second brother builds his house out of straw. While the other pig builds his house out of bricks. They all believe that their house will be the strongest. But the next day the wolf comes to the straw house and says, “little pig, little pig let me in!”, “Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin”, says the pig. Then wolf says “I will huff and puff and blow your house down”. After that the wolf blows one big puff and knocks the house down. The little pig runs to his brothers house made of sticks. The wolf follows and says the same thing to that house and very well, the house blows down. The two little pigs run to the third brothers house made of bricks. The wolf again says the same thing and the pigs reply. He huffs and puffs and when he trys to blow it all down he cant! The two other brothers thank the oldest for building the brick house. I remember this story from my childhood. My dad would read it to me before I went to bed. I really like this story and hope its still around to tell me children.

  3. My favorite tale is the story of Poseidon and athena. it is about the city of athens and the to greek gods righting for their affection. Poseidon struck the ground with his trident and up poped a spring to end the drought. athena struck the ground with her spear and up poped an olive tree. the citizens saw the olive tree as a major export for trade. Athena was the god worshiped in athens. The first time I heard this was in 4th grade When i became fascinated with greek mythology. I do not think that it is still popular because no one ever brings it up. it is sad to be the only one that still appreciate these old stories.

  4. One of my favorite fairy tales is Cinderella. I love that fairy tale it first starts off with a girl and her mother and father have died and she is stuck with her evil step mom and wicked step sisters. She works and cleans all day like a slave! One day she heard there was going to be a ball for the prince at the castle. She wanted to go really badly but her step mom said that she had to clean the whole house to be able to go and get the perfect dress. By the time that she was suppose to go to the ball because she had cleaned and her mice friends had made a dress for her, her step sisters ripped Cinderella’s dress because the mice took the step sisters clothing. She was so sad she ran outside and there she met her fairy godmother where the fairy godmother sang her magic words “Bippity, boppity boo” and then came a carriage made from a pumpkin, horses made from mice, coachmen made from a horse and a dog and then finally Cinderella’s dress and crystal slippers. From there she was on her way to the ball where she met the prince and they fell in love but when the clock struck twelve everything would turn back to normal so Cinderella ran away and lost her slipper. Then the prince found it on the steps. He searched for the girl with the perfect shoe size he had all the girls of the town try it on. Finally he found her, they got married and lived happily ever after. I don’t remember the first time I heard it but I have loved it forever. This fairy tale is still very popular because they are making reproductions of this fairy tale into movies and having all these different things being left behind after a dance or some event.

  5. When I was real little, my Grandfather used to tell my brother and I that there was a monster named Louie who lived in his closet. He used to tell us this because he didn't want us to go upstairs. He would also tell my aunt that he fell off a dock and got bitten by a shark, which would explain the scars on his back, but years later she found out that he had back surgery when she was two. I remember my dad telling me a story about "cellar dwellers " as well, who live in the basement of our house when we lived on wheeler street, but after we moved out that story died down a bit for what ever reason. The purple ones were nice but the green ones would try to eat you. He would also tell us a scary story all the time about a disgustingly ugly woman who hated kids and when she would walk all you would hear coming from her big huge combat boots was "squish, squash, squish, squash." And then he would end it by saying that was the sounds of all the kids guts that she cut up being squashed underneath her feet. It would give me nightmares when I was little but now I just laugh at it.

  6. One story I remember from when I was little is the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. I dont' remember the exact times I heard it but I do remember both my parents telling it to me more than once. It is the story of how the tortoise challanges the hare to a race because the hare makes fun of him because he is slow. The hare is over confident that he will win because he knows he is faster than the tortoise. He becomes lazy once he is ahead of the tortoise and stops to take a break. The tortoise keeps his focus and is determined to finish. In the end the tortiose ends up winning. I think this is still a popular story because it has a lesson in it. It shows that you shouldn't be over confident and brag about what you can do better than others. If you are determined and work really hard to succeed you can.

  7. My favorite legend from when I was younger was the legend of the loch ness monster. The loch ness monster is a huge dinosaur-like creature. It is believed to live in loch ness Scotland. I first heard about it on a TV show when I was younger. I don't thing the loch ness monster is still popular today. I don't think nearly as many people know about this legend. Some of the only publicity the "loch ness monster" gets anymore is the occasional TV or movie reference. The legend of the loch ness monster actually has its OWN movie. It is called "Water Horse"

  8. When I was a kid I remember the story the three little pigs, but, i also heard a remake to that story. In the original story the wolf was the bad guy right/ Well in this story the wolf was a very nice wolf who had a hold. The wolf wasn't trying to hurt the pigs when he came to the houses. the reason why he came to the first house is because he needed some sugar, when the pig didn’t answer he asked again and again and the last time he asked he sneezed! and blew the house made out of straw down. After that he went to the second pigs house made out of wood. He asked for some sugar but the pig didn’t reply, the wolf asked again and again and the last time he sneezed! and blew the house down. The last house was made of of brick and the wolf went over there to get his sugar. he asked for the sugar and there was still no reply, he asked again and again and then he sneezed! but, this time the house didn't blow down. The pig opened the door and asked what the wolf needed, The wolf finally got his sugar and went back to his home.

  9. One of my favorite childhood stories was the legend of Bigfoot. Bigfoot is believed to be a half-man half-monkey hybrid but he is very large and tall. I have heard this story numerous times so it is very hard to tell when I first heard about this strange creature. I've heard the story told by many people like my mom, dad, and other family members. Bigfoot is still a gigantic mystery and will probably always be one. Bigfoot is very large is the media. Thousands of alleged sightings happen weekly. Bigfoot has had many TV shows based on the legend. For example, there is a show called Finding Bigfoot where a team of "Squatchers" try to find Bigfoot. There is lots of "Gone Squatchin'" merchandise, too. As you can see, the legend of Bigfoot is a myth that will be around forever!

WHEN CINDERELLA HEARD THAT THE TWO STEPSISTERS WERE INVITED TO THE BALL SHE HELPED THE TWO STEPSISTERS GET READY AND SHE ASKED “MAY I COME TOO”. THE STEPMOTHER SAID “ YOU CAN’T COME YOU DON’T HAVE A GOWN”. SHE HAD A BEAUTIFUL PINK DRESS AND HER FRIENDS, THE LITTLE TWO BIRDS, AND THE MICE SEWED BUTTONS, RIBBONS, AND BOW ON TO THE PINK DRESS. THEN HER LITTLE FRIENDS SAID “THAT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL CINDERELLA. THEN HER TWO STEPSISTERS THOUGHT THAT CINDERELLA LOOKED BETTER THAN THEM SO THEY RIPPED HER DRESS AND ALL THAT WAS LEFT WERE RAGS. AFTER THAT, SHE CRIED AND CRIED. UNTIL THIS WOMAN APPEARED AND IT WAS CINDERELLA’S FAIRY GODMOTHER. THE FAIRY GODMOTHER TURNED THE COACH INTO A PUMPKIN, THE MICE INTO HORSES, THE DOG INTO A FOOTMAN, AND THE HORSE INTO A COACHMAN. THEN HER FAIRY GODMOTHER WAVED HER WAND AND CINDERELLA HAD BEAUTIFUL DRESS (IT WAS BLUE) AND ON HER FEET WERE GLASS SLIPPERS. THE FAIRY GODMOTHER SAID “GOODBYE AND THAT THE SPELL ENDS AT MIDNIGHT”. THE PRINCE AND CINDERELLA FELL IN LOVE AND DANCED EVERY DANCE TOGETHER. AS THE CLOCK STRUCK MIDNIGHT SHE RAN AND ONE OF HER GLASS SLIPPERS FEEL OFF. AS SHE WAS RUNNING HOME HER DRESS TURNED BACK INTO RAGS AND EVERYTHING ELSE TURNED BACK INTO WHAT IT WAS. THE PRINCE FOUND THE GLASS SLIPPER AND SENT THE GRAND DUKE TO MAKE EVERY MAIDEN TRY ON THE SLIPPER. HE SAID THAT “WHO FITS INTO THE GLASS SLIPPER I WOULD MARRY”. THE STEPMOTHER LOCKED CINDERELLA IN HER ROOM SO SHE COULDN'T TRY ON THE SLIPPER. THEN, JAQ AND GUS FOUND THE KEY AND PUT IT UNDER THE DOOR AND SAID “HERE CINDERELLA UNLOCK THE DOOR QUICK!”. WHEN THE STEPMOTHER HEARD CINDERELLA COMING DOWN THE STAIRS SHE SMASHED THE SLIPPER. CINDERELLA SAID “ITS OK I HAVE THE OTHER ONE RIGHT HERE”. THE DUKE PUT IT ON HER FOOT AND IT FIT PERFECTLY. THEN, THE PRINCE AND CINDERELLA LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
THIS IS ONE STORY FROM MY CHILDHOOD.
